The Burlington High School Class of 2018 has received their new iPads as part of the Burlington 1:1 learning program. Students will use iPads in all curriculum and specialist areas at BHS.
Students should add a protective case and are strongly advised to purchase annual insurance for their device. BHS student iPad insurance will be available through GoCare. Please follow the directions available at this portal for setting up an insurance policy.
Students are encouraged to download the BHS Foundational Google Apps including Google Drive, Google Docs, and Google Sheets. Several other Foundational Apps will be available through the BPS EdTech Team. These apps include iMovie, Explain Everything, Book Creator, and Notability.
The BHS iPads are managed by students with security in place from the BPS EdTech and IT Teams using the Casper Mobile Device Management system. The system allows for age based restrictions and content filtering. While students can add apps through the Apple App Store, apps are restricted by age. Students can now use the Safari browser which will be filtered wherever they connect to the internet. Student profiles which maintain the Casper security settings are not removable – even after a system wipe.
Students should always follow BPS AUP requirements. They must use their devices in appropriate and positive ways throughout their time at BHS. The digital identity of our high school students is critical in their access to colleges and career opportunities.
BHS students can seek support for use with their iPads at the student run BHS HelpDesk located in the BHS Library. The HelpDesk provides device and app support for all students and staff. Please see the HelpDesk site for more details.
